Take infant steps: Try giving your child small amounts of milk or other dairy foods every day and slowly raise the amount over several days or weeks. This will give the body plenty of time to adapt and build threshold. Some people can eventually even have the ability to tolerate lactose when consumed within small amounts over the course of the day. You can also try to mix milk with other foods such as cereals or soups. This gives your child more time to digest the lactose.
